Day 01: Arrival in Bodhgaya – Mahabodhi Temple & Bodhi Tree Darshan
Arrive in Bodhgaya, one of the most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage destinations in the world. Upon arrival at the airport or railway station, our representative will greet you and assist with your transfer to the hotel.
After check-in and some relaxation, proceed for local sightseeing. Visit the iconic Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that marks the exact spot where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment.
Spend peaceful moments under the sacred Bodhi Tree, believed to be a direct descendant of the original tree under which Buddha meditated. The spiritual ambiance of this place offers a deeply calming and meditative experience.
Return to the hotel in the evening. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in Bodhgaya.
Day 02: Bodhgaya – Dungeshwari Caves, Sujata Village & Monasteries Tour
After breakfast, set out for an excursion to the historic Dungeshwari Cave Temples (also known as Mahakala Caves), located about 12 km from Bodhgaya. These caves are where Lord Buddha practiced intense penance before attaining enlightenment.
Next, visit Sujata Village, where a local woman named Sujata offered kheer to Buddha, symbolizing the end of his ascetic phase and the beginning of the Middle Path.
Later, explore the beautifully constructed international Buddhist monasteries in Bodhgaya, each reflecting unique architectural styles and traditions:
- Burmese Monastery
- Tibetan Monastery
- Japanese Temple
- Chinese Temple
These monasteries offer a peaceful environment for meditation and cultural understanding of global Buddhist traditions.
After completing the sightseeing, you will be transferred to Bodhgaya Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey, carrying with you serene memories of this spiritual retreat.
