Day 01: Arrival in Varanasi – Sarnath Excursion & Evening Ritual Ceremony
Upon arrival in Varanasi, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel for check-in and relaxation.
After lunch, proceed for an excursion to Sarnath, one of the most sacred destinations in Buddhism. This is the place where Gautama Buddha delivered his first sermon at Deer Park (Rishipattana), marking the beginning of the Buddhist teachings.
During your visit, explore the key attractions of Sarnath:
- Dhamek Stupa – the exact location of Buddha’s first discourse
- Chaukhandi Stupa – marking Buddha’s meeting with his disciples
- Mulagandha Kuti Vihar – known for its serene ambiance and beautiful frescoes
- Archaeological Museum and other Buddha temples
In the evening, attend a peaceful ritual ceremony at the Sri Lankan Buddhist Temple, offering a calming and spiritual experience.
Return to your hotel in Varanasi for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 02: Sunrise Boat Ride – Transfer to Bodhgaya – Mahabodhi Temple Visit
Start your day early with the spiritual charm of Subah-e-Banaras. Head to the sacred Ganges River for a mesmerizing sunrise boat ride.
As you glide along the river, witness the timeless rituals of devotees and pass by iconic ghats such as:
- Manikarnika Ghat – one of the holiest cremation grounds
- Harishchandra Ghat
- Tulsi Ghat
- Assi Ghat
Return to the hotel for breakfast.
Later, drive to Bodhgaya (approx. 300 km / 6 hours), one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage destinations in the world. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel.
In the evening, visit the sacred Mahabodhi Temple, the place where Buddha attained enlightenment. Also explore the revered Bodhi Tree, under which he meditated.
Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in Bodhgaya.
Day 03: Bodhgaya Sightseeing – Dungeshwari Caves & Monasteries – Departure
After breakfast, proceed for local sightseeing around Bodhgaya and nearby areas.
Begin with a visit to the Dungeshwari Caves, also known as Mahakala Caves, where Buddha practiced severe penance before attaining enlightenment.
Next, visit Sujata Village, where a local woman named Sujata offered food (kheer) to Buddha, symbolizing the end of his extreme ascetic practices.
Later, explore the internationally built Buddhist monasteries in Bodhgaya, representing different cultures and traditions:
- Burmese Monastery
- Tibetan Monastery
- Japanese Temple
- Chinese Temple
These monasteries reflect the global significance of Buddhism and offer a peaceful environment for meditation and reflection.
Finally, you will be transferred to Bodhgaya Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey.
